block printing patterns

Learn how to design and hand print mesmerizing repeating patterns. No art experience required! In her popular class, textile designer Kathy Barlow guides beginners and intermediates alike to take Block Printing to the next level and create eye-catching cloth bags. You’ll be amazed at the patterns we’ll make when starting with simple shapes!

 This workshop is Mother's Day week and the perfect time to treat your favorite mom to class, to bring her with you for some creative bonding time, or to craft a tote just for mom!

 In this class you will also learn: 

               • How to carve various marks into blocks & proper use of carving tools

               • Design principles for repeating patterns & color schemes

               • Tips & techniques for block printing onto fabric & pre-sewn items

 Come with a spark of an idea or Kathy with have resources on hand to inspire your design. In class you'll choose from off-white or black 'sling totes' or from a variety of larger tote bags and you'll first print onto practice fabric. 

 Workshop includes all in-class materials & tools, take-home instructions plus a take-home beginner's cutter set to use to carve future blocks! (Repeat students: Please bring your carving kit and instead you will get some extra carving material or an extra tote!) Other take-home materials & kits will be available for purchase.
